Bryan is probably chill and well behaved enough, for a giant spider, that Magnus would consider giving it a try. But consider the one mbmbam seeso episode where Travis is wearing a thick hazmat suit (???) and a tarantula is crawling over his hand. Imagine all of them smuggling a Null Suit away from Leon so Magnus can try it like this for awhile.

I have absolutely been called out on Magnus being afraid of spiders, so I appreciate this chance for Redemption.

Magnus is going to Have A Dog even if it’s not his and is in the form of an enormous spider. He keeps reaching out to pet Bryan but then Bryan moves one of their legs and alarm bells go off in Magnus’s head and he’s halfway across the base before he even realizes. But he has to keep trying because he can sense the inner dog in the giant spider. There is friendship potential here and Magnus is not going to give up.

Plus spiders have that thing where they can walk up walls so Bryan probably won’t run off of the moon. He hasn’t yet, anyway.

It’s Taako’s idea to steal the suit, because Taako would never pass up an opportunity to make Leon question his life choices. Magnus insists on putting it on well before they get to Bryan, just in case, and they attract a bit of a crowd walking across the base. Lucretia watches from a distance, remembering all of the spiders she personally removed from Magnus’s room during their time with the IPRE. 

Right as Magnus opens the door where Bryan is kept, Taako reaches out for the back of his neck with a sly smirk on his face. There’s a high-pitched shriek and the sound of a thud.

Five minutes later Taako, Magnus, and Merle are in Lucretia’s office. Taako is scowling while Merle tries to cast some kind of healing spell on him, and Magnus looks regretful. He’s still wearing the null suit. 

Lucretia sighs. “Do I even have to ask?”

Magnus shifts uncomfortably. “I hit Taako at about 45% strength. That was too much.”

In Lucretia’s experience, that was not enough. Every time Magnus asked Taako to remove a spider, the spider ended up on Magnus and Taako ended up smacked in some way, usually in the face. Every fucking time.

Lucretia stares at Magnus and shares the worldly wisdom that Davenport used every time Magnus and Taako ended up in front of him for the exact same reason. “Don’t do a hit.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Some things never change.
