Fullmetal alchemist also tackled the issues of imperialism, genocide, PTSD, friendly fire, racism, war brutality, and military corruption unflinchingly. “Most military commanders are killed by their own disgusted soldiers.” indeed.

Also, the English dub is spot on with it’s translation and is just as good as the Japanese sub, for anyone that can’t follow just subtitles or prefers not to watch other language programming.
Make sure, when you’re finding it, that you’re choosing Fullmetal Alchemist BROTHERHOOD. There is a show just called Fullmetal Alchemist. It will look identical for the first 5 episodes. It is not. The original was made while the manga was still in progress and begins to deviate rather quickly, devolving into something that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Brotherhood was made after the manga was completed, follows the manga directly, and makes all kinds of sense.
Also, do NOT watch if you don’t have a strong stomach. Things get graphic and gory and there are things and concepts that will make people uncomfortable.
It is a great show, but I felt like someone had to put some warnings on it.
