An Official Review of the McElroy Brothers
The McElroy brothers, Griffin, Justin and Travis are by all accounts incredibly, deceivingly average. They do not play video games well, nor are they the best at music. They aren’t incredibly socially adept, nor are they hollywood handsome. However, once you begin to take in the McElroy family brand of products (podcasts, let’s plays, music, reviews and memes, yes, memes) you will notice that there is something rather extraordinary going on here.
There are many layers to a McElroy, for despite their appearance of being average there is something beneath that which touches their audiences. Pehaps it is the pure, unadulterated glee from a comedic bit so impromptu and successful they can hardly get the punchline out through their laughter. Maybe it is the way they are able to grow and adapt and change from feedback in a way that shows they wish to embrace their audience with the same kindness with which they embrace each other. Perhaps it is their familiarity, the picture of a family who, through gentle ribbing and in-jokes and an uncensored care for each other embraces that fact that yes, they are average. But the heart inside, that is what makes us extraordinary.
The past few years have been incredibly hard and unfortunate for many people, as the information the internet streams to our brains seems dark and bleak and doesn’t seem to want to end in this upcoming 2018. But the McElroys, in any format you choose to recieve them, are here to show you that in this small pocket of existence there is still laughter in the world. There is still incredible characters, rich stories, funny jokes, happy families and friends with which you can, for a moment, suspend the disbelief that things can be alright, just for a little bit.
So if you haven’t heard of them quite yet, or are putting off watching their material, I heavily suggest you sit down for about half an hour, grab your headphones and dig out that link one of your friends sent you. You’ll find it’s worth every second because when you’re hanging out with the McElroys you’re not just a friend, you’re family.
