Gah, I deleted that post so quick because I worried I was pooping on someone’s fun with it, but lo and behold I wasn’t quick enough.

For anyone seeing this later, I wrote “there must be an AU somewhere in the Mob Psycho fandom where Reigen actually has powers and if it exists it’s the most cursed thing in the world.”

Being a non-esper seems so fundamental to his character. Not just the role he plays, but the skills he has and the values he imparts to Mob. Even to the dynamic the two of them have and the arc their relationship takes. To me any version of him with actual powers (beyond, y’know, whatever psychic residue allows him to see Dimple so they can sass at each other) just wouldn’t feel right.

But also, like. Everyone enjoys media in different ways and has different feelings about characters, enjoy what you like.
